A Zanu PF youth member Fidelis Fengu has challenged the Zimbabwean authorities to protect the Njelele shrine from any violations.
The Njelele shrine is a place of rain making and is in Matobo distrit of Matabeleland South.
"Njelele must be a protected area, and the local custodians of Njelele must guide government on how best to protect Njelele and reclaim its dignity and sanctity," Feng said.
"The Ministry of Arts and Culture , the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Office of Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko must urgently look into this matter."
He said on 25 August Njelele will be closing for their annual cleansing ceremony , that would be a good time to engage the community there and the custodian of Njelele ukhulu uThobela.
"Politicians and war vets should respect Njelele and the custodians thereof. Unsanctioned trips to Njelele must stop," he said.
"This is VERY important and will help the nation a lot."
