Origins of Mthwakazi Republic Party and its political views
01 Jul 2018 at 16:37hrs | Views
Mthwakazi Republic Party is a politiccal institution that was established in 2013 soon after the Zimbabwean government and the state-controlled Zimbabwe Electoral Commission conducted the most unsatisfactory elections in Zimbabwe. Soon after that, the disgruntled people of Mthwakazi finally converged to formulate the political movement that would almost solve its problems dating from 1893 up to the present day.
MRP was officially launched to the public on January 11, in 2014 at Presbyterian Church Hall in Bulawayo. The party is led by President Mqondisi Moyo. Mthwakazi is an inter-cultural nation which was established by King Mzilikazi whose origins can be traced down to Zululand. The nation comprised of more than 13 tribes who were harmoniously ruled in their diversity. The border of Mthwakazi and Zimbabwe which was signed between Sir Star Leander Jameson and King Lobengula in 1891. The border is the Munyathi River, and that exists between Mthwakazi and Zambia is Zambezi River. The Border that exist between Mthwakazi and Botswana is Ramaquabane and the border that separate Mthwakazi from South Africa is Limpopo River.
The tribes found in Mthwakazi are Tonga, Swazi, Coloureds, Sotho, ChiNambya, Venda, Ndebele, Khalanga, Lozwi, Nyanja, Chewa and English among others.
Mthwakazi Republic Party unlike other opposition political parties is advocating for the restoration of the separate state of Mthwakazi which initially lost its independence in 1893 when the British South African Company invaded the land of Mthwakazi assisted by the 652 Shona Batsmen in Gadade (battle of Mbembesi). In the 1960s when the Africans were lobbying for their independence, ZAPU was formed under the leadership of Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo and he commanded the ZIPRA which was a military wing of ZAPU mainly anticipated to push the interests of Mthwakazi people.
Surprisingly in 1963, another political party was also established which was specifically meant to fulfil the Shona people's evil interests and later it was led by Robert Mugabe, the former spokesperson of ZAPU.
The party had a mission to dominate both Mashonaland and Mthwakazi nation. In the climax of events in 1979, the ZANU party came up with an evil two page document which was a summary of how they were going to dominate and suppress the people of Mthwakazi once they were given power. In 1980 after the Lancaster House negotiations with Britain which were also controversial because our people were not given an opportunity to express themselves through the democratic processes. When the controversial elections of 1980 were conducted, ZANU emerged as the winner of Zimbabwe (Mashonaland) because the constituencies were structured in a way that favoured the Mashonaland people because they had a good history of working together with the British dating back from the colonial period.
The 1980 elections were culminated by violence to force the outcome to favour ZANU and the RF (Rhodesian Front.) In spite of the intimidations by ZANU and the White monopoly party, the people of Mthwakazi resoundingly voted for ZAPU because they were convienced that ZAPU had their interests at heart.
Unlike what our children of Mthwakazi are taught in the history of Zimbabwe which is manufactured, that says Lobengula sold the country through the concessions that were made with the British. Ironically, these concessions were diplomatic ties signed by Lobengula out of good faith taking the example of his father Mzilikazi even though the Whites had a hidden agenda. Furthermore, the Shona chief Zimunye of Masvingo who was given cattle by Lobengula through his system called ukusisa in Ndebele/Zulu.
When the Shona people stole the copper cables of White people, they had to compensate the Whites with the cattle of Lobengula. One may ask a genuine rhetoric question, on who was a traitor between Lobengula, the last king of Mthwakazi and the Mashonaland chief. Hence, Mthwakazi history has it that Mthwakazi leaders had good relations with the neighbouring kingdoms, unlike what is purported in the manufactured history of Zimbabwe that, the people of Mthwakazi raided the Shona people.
The history of the battles fought by Mzilikazi and Lobengula is well documented and they are no traces of the said Shona invasion. Hence teaching our children to belittle their heritage through teaching them factually incorrect history is equated to the highest form of oppression.
When Mugabe took over power, he started to embark on implementing brutal programs to the people of Mthwakazi that were properly planned in the 1979 grand plan. History has it that, he developed hatred towards the Mthwakazi people when his father left his mother and got married to a Ndebele woman from Tsholotsho. The first most brutal program that was implemented by Mugabe and his government was the Gukurahundi- uMbhuqazwe genocide (the rain that washes the thrash) in 1982 to 1987.
Even though a proper inquiry was not done whose results were published publicly, the newspapers and the CCJP report indicates that more than 20 000 people of Mthwakazi origins were cold bloodedly butchered by a specifically trained force, the 5th Brigade. Others were maimed, tortured, rapped and pregnant women's wombs were ripped open as a game of identifying whether the child was male or female. This also led to the massive exodus of our people to South Africa to seek refuge. The genocide targeted the Mthwakazi nation and no traces of gukurahundi can be traced in Mashonaland regions.
As we speak, South Africa is currently the home to Mthwakazi people not less than three million. Some have been assimilated and changed their identity to be Zulus because Mthwakazi nation largely comprise of Nguni people who migrated with Mzilikazi in 1922 to Mthwakazi (the Southern regions of Zimbabwe.) The purpose of the genocide as outlined in the 1979 grand plan was to kill all the Mthwakazi people. This genocide instilled fear to our people up to today especially those who witnessed the brutal killings of our innocent people.
Apart from this background, the Mugabe government as outlined on the 1979 grand plan subsequently implemented a number of socio economic programs that were targeting at driving away all the Mthwakazi people from their God given land. One of the programs that was implemented by Mugabe and his government was the Economic Structural Adjustment Program (ESAP) in 1992 which was mainly targeted at getting rid of all Ndebele people who were employed in the public sector so as to fill in the gaps with Shona people. As we speak about 95 percent of the public sector jobs are occupied by the Shona elite in all Mthwakazi regions. To ensure that, the government of Mugabe introduced the centralized system of government so as to control our region of Mthwakazi.
The most disheartening aspect is that, the languages of Mthwakazi which are more than 13 originating from 13 tribes are wrongly taught by Shona people. As we speak the Ndebele spellings that are written on our passports, National Identity cards and Mthwakazi locations are incorrectly spelt deliberately.
The children from our four provinces are poorly performing because they are taught in a language that they do not understand which is Shona. All these programs were specifically designed by the Shona government led by Robert Mugabe to specifically shonalise Mthwakazi so as to dominate its people. Even the national statistics that is released by the Central Intelligence Organization directly reporting to Robert Mugabe produces wrong statistics so as to instill psychological defeat to our people. So if one researches about the statistics of the people of Mthwakazi basing on the Mugabe manufactured statistics, one would get an impression that we are few. This is part of the key indicators of success of the 1979 grand plan.
Apart from that, as from 1980 up to date, the Mugabe government worked tirelessly to destroy the industries in Bulawayo which were strategically situated in Bulawayo. Bulawayo used to be the industrial hub of Africa.
However the industries were relocated to Mashonaland and as we speak industries are replaced by Shona people churches in Mthwakazi. All the major and minor political parties in Zimbabwe are led by the Shona people our people have been subjected to deputies. Almost 75 percent of Ministers in Zimbabwe are of Shona origins and they ensure the employment of Shona people in all sectors of government.
The industries were further crippled by 1979 grand plan influenced Fast Track Land Reform Program, which saw the Shona people usurping land from the White local Mthwakazi people illegally which they currently upheld up to today.
The Fast Track Land Reform programme was not conducted to address the issues of imbalances that existed before Mugabe took over power but rather it was a program that was implemented to strengthen Shona hegemony. The Mugabe government did not only take land from the White people, but the painful reality is that, they are further taking land from the local Mthwakazi people a typical recent example being the ARDA saga in Matobo district.
The Shona people now owns almost all the small and large scale mines at the expense of the local people in Mthwakazi. They have extended their brutality by going to an extent of killing the local miners so as to enforce the ownership of mines in Mthwakazi. The recent incident whereby eight people were killed which was not properly reported because the Zimbabwe media mainly pushes the interests of the Shona people, whereby, the local people were killed by the Shona group calling themselves aMaShurugwi.
The above mentioned problems and other untold stories are the real concerns of our people that we seek to address as Mthwakazi Republic Party. The agenda of Mthwakazi Republic Party is to restore the pre 1893 boundaries which were illegally enforced by a controversial referendum that excluded the owners of the land in 1923. We believe that as Mthwakazi people united in our diversity we can rule ourselves better as we initially did.
As a political institution we want firstly to restore our nation and its culture that is humane in all aspects of life. We want to restore a culture of tolerance in our diversity, a culture of good international relations that initially used to exist during the time of Mzilikazi and Lobengula. We want to restore our potential economy. Mthwakazi is currently the economic hub of Zimbabwe. For example we have the Beitbridge border post which generate more than 2 million United States dollars a day.
We have one of the Seven Wonders of the World, tourist resort town which is the Victoria Falls with the capacity to generate more than 2 million US dollars a day. We also have the hydro power station at Victoria Falls with the potential to produce massive electricity. It is in Mthwakazi where there are vast mineral resources some already tapped and some which have not been discovered. For example we have untapped gas reserves in Lupane. We have gold all over Mthwakazi. We have cement and all other minerals that one can think about. We also have the biggest Hwange national park as well as the thermal power station in Kariba. We also have massive coal deposits at Hwange.
Our Mthwakazi nation with proper political administrators has potential to be one of the developed countries in Africa and the world. As Mthwakazi Republic Party we intend to usher the freedom of our people in totality and its dignity. We believe that when we restore our nation all our brothers and sisters languishing in South Africa and the world at large will come back to our nation and get our nation working again.
Mthwakazi Republic Party in essence is a pro democratic party whose interest is to restore social, economic and political culture that embraces justice. We want to bring back the dignity of our people on the map of the world. Our current programs on ground are a testimony to this fact. For example we have been empowering parents around Mthwakazi to reject the imposed Shona teachers in our nation, of which most of those cases have been won by the parents, a typical example being the cases in Mlamuli secondary and Makuzeze primary school . We have introduced the reburials programs which is targeting at properly burying known victims of the gukurahundi genocide.
We are working on inquiring about the actual impact of the Shona hegemony through assessing the situation at ground level. We have visited all the public institutions assessing the issues of service delivery and discovering about the programs on the pipeline so as to ensure that our people are employed. For example the company constructing the Egodini Mall, we expect it to employ the local people.
As we are carrying out these investigations we are also bringing awareness to our people, as a mechanism of exposing the Mugabe and Shona brutality. We are conducting sensitization road shows, so as to increase awareness to our people.
We are also doing a preliminary investigations about the Gukurahundi genocide. In the process of inquiry we have discovered a mass grave in Cowdray Park in Bulawayo that was unknown. In essence, we want to take the Zimbabwean government to task about all the evils that they committed in Mthwakazi.
Our laid down five year plan
Setting International Lobby Committee
The committee would specifically engage the international community about the need by the Mthwakazi people to be entrusted with their fundamental right which is self-determination as enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
This initiative would involve all the key stakeholders on this matter.
Exhausting all the internationally recognized peaceful means to self determination.
The democratic processes that would be utilized by the party are elections particularly in parliamentary and council related elections so as to protect our political space.
We believe that our plight is political and hence political strategies are needed. To realize this dream we will undertake massive political campaign strategies in the 2018 general elections.
Use of the judiciary road map up to the International Court of Justice.
We will approach the judiciary institutions once our petition program would be fully implemented. Even the election results would be utilized as a proof that our people want self-determination.
Establishment of Mthwakazi Parliament
Mthwakazi Republic Party would also usher the Mthwakazi parliament comprising of all Mthwakazi constituency leaders to deliberate on Mthwakazi contextual policies in line with our culture and our belief systems.
Reviving the Mthwakazi economy soon after 2018 general elections
Soon after winning the elections the Mthwakazi Republic Party would embark on reviving our economy. All details are contained in our manifesto.
