ZAPU to reconfigure the Youth Front

30 Jan 2015 at 07:53hrs | Views
"We are revisiting our revolutionary mandate, goals and reinventing the future for a sharper, agile and resilient ZAPU" equipped Mr Christopher Maphosa, the ZAPU Europe Chairperson, in reference to their Provincial Executive meeting which will be held on the 31st January 2015 in Dudley near Birmingham City.

On the agenda is the reconfiguration of the ZAPU Youth Front, which has grown exponentially since the successful revival of the Party. "We have recruited firebrands, charismatic and revolutionary oriented Youth into the Party and now they need to restructure the Youth Front for successful implementation of their robust programmes" said Mr Maphosa.

In the interview Mr Maphosa explained the importance of the Youth in the Party, he said that the Youth is the vanguard of the Party; they are not only the leaders of the future but leaders of today as well. Mr Maphosa stated that all successful revolutionary Parties are as a result of vibrancy exuded by its Youth. "Young people are like fire, the energy needed to kick start the process of meaningful transformation and progress" Mr Maphosa explained.

Mr Maphosa however cautioned the Youth against egoism, indiscipline, self-destruction through laziness in intellectually engaging issues. He encouraged the ZAPU Youth members to attain the highest possible academic qualifications, however to, remain rooted in Ubuntu, and remain anchored in humility and civility. "If our Youth could learn from the mighty ZIPRA forces we will know for sure that we are in safe hands, ZIPRA one of the most fierce and well trained armies on the African continent, remained disciplined but ferocious in the battle field"   enthused Mr Maphosa.

The ZAPU PEC meeting will also kick-start the process to the Party's National Congress, which will be held in the second half of this year.

ZAPU is poised to take the Zimbabwean political discourse this year by storm. The depth and versatility of Youthful leadership in the ranks of ZAPU is amazing. One just has to visit their social networking sites to experience the nature and calibre of leadership ZAPU is endowed with. When ZAPU was successfully revived under the able leadership of Dr Dumiso Dabengwa in 2009, many people joined the Party, but did not last long, not because they did not have staying power, but some had ulterior ‘Mugabe motives', these were quickly sifted; but some fell along the way because they were causing unnecessary conflict within the Party. Now that the Party is stable and strong and can withstand the pressures thrown on its way, the Party needs to call all its children back to complete the journey together.
Now those that remain, are dedicated individuals who have come to know each other better, thanks to the technological advancement, which has brought ZAPU members in different Continents in close proximity as they have discussions on a daily basis.  The National Congress is expected to bring new talent into the Party; however, a good balance of new and experienced leadership is needed to facilitate continuity and to accelerate the change within the Party and the Country as a whole.

The ZAPU Europe PEC meeting on the 31st is going to be the first of its kind which is expected to be full house, even though ZAPU Europe has enjoyed very good and high levels of attendance but one or two members have always offered apologies. The energy that ZAPU is on course and readying itself for a total onslaught could be felt near and far, the levels of membership uptake continue to increase.

Mr Maphosa confirmed that the PEC meeting will be adopting not less than four Projects in the meeting; the foremost project will be led by the Mobilisation Department.
