Taurai Mandebvu, the urban groover, who was facing murder charges after fatally assaulting a burglar has been acquitted.
Public Mpofu, the State counsel was forced to withdraw the charges after there were inconsistencies found in the witness statements, 3-mob reported.
Mandebvu is said to have been involved in the murder of a housebreaker who entered his family home in Hatfield at 3.30am.
Taurai with the help his father, sister, a domestic worker and 2 neighbours, allegedly cornered the now-deceased robber and assaulted him with hose pipes, electric cords and golf clubs.
The burglar was in the company of two accomplices who were armed with knives and spears and managed to escape.
The robber sustained fatal injuries.
