Seven top South African gospel artists are expected to jet into the country this Thursday ahead of a Brethren in Christ Church celebration service set for the 28th and 29th of this month at Phelandaba Stadium in Gwanda.

The normally quiet town of Gwanda is set to come alive this weekend as it hosts some of South Africa's top gospel artists, among them Rebecca Malope, Tsepo Tsola and Luthando Spiritual Group, Hlengiwe Mhlaba, Tsepiso Motaung and Dumi Mkokstad.

The technical team is already on the ground in preparation for the extravaganza that is expected to attract thousands of gospel lovers.

The show will be free entry.

One of the show organisers, Reverend Sipho Mhizha said Brethren in Christ Church saw it fit to celebrate the completion of their 1,000 seater church with a joyous celebration.

Upcoming local gospel artists are urged to take advantage of the coming of the seasoned artists to learn and harness their artistic skills.

Meanwhile, the gospel show was initially marred by controversy following reports that Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini was among the dignitaries who were expected to grace the occasion.
