SOUTH African Afro-pop group Mafikizolo are getting together for their first studio recording in two years.

Fans of the popular Afro-pop outfit Mafikizolo will be chuffed to learn that Nhlanhla Nciza and Theo Kgosinkwe are back in the studio.

They are back by popular demand from taking a break to pursue their solo careers.

The singers confirmed that they are recording two singles and they hope to release it before the end of October. They said they are also working on a project that will be released next year.

Lead singer Nhlanhla Nciza's decision to record solo sparked panic among the group's fans worldwide who feared the Mafikizolo's disintegration. Nciza did well when her debut solo album, Inguquko, went gold. Ingcinga Zam stopped short of going gold.

The other half of the group, Theo Kgosinkwe, has also gone on to record two albums, including his award-winning debut effort, I Am. It went gold and is on its way to platinum. It was followed by Grateful, which has also gone gold.

The Afro-pop outfit said it doesn't want its brand to die but it was also important for them to spread their wings and develop into brands outside their comfort zone.

The multiple award-winning group released a The Best Of album in 2009, but they have not recorded any new material in over FIVE years.
