MANICALAND - Zimbabwe's Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Honourable Barbara Rwodzi, has made a bold statement about the role of technology in the country's tourism sector, with major focus on robotics.

Addressing delegates at the Sanganai/Hlanganani/Kumbanayi Tourism Expo in Mutare, Rwodzi declared that while her ministry embraces artificial intelligence, robots will not be allowed to serve in hotels.

"Zimbabwean people's hospitality is awesome and cannot be replaced by robots," Rwodzi emphasised.

The Minister further highlight the country's rich cultural heritage and precious tourism treasures.

Rwodzi's stance underscores the importance of human interaction in Zimbabwe's hospitality industry where the minister believes that the warmth and personal touch of Zimbabwean hospitality cannot be replicated by machines, making human service an essential aspect of the country's tourism product.

The statement that Minister Rwodzi made aligns with the ministry's efforts to promote local tourism and showcase Zimbabwe's unique attractions. Under Rwodzi's leadership, the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry has launched initiatives like the Domestic Tourism Festive Season Campaign, aimed at encouraging locals to explore their own country and appreciate its beauty.

Meanwhile, First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa has been recognised for her contributions to promoting gastronomy tourism in Zimbabwe. Through initiatives like Amai's Traditional Cook-out Competition, she has helped put the country on the map for culinary tourism, highlighting Zimbabwe's rich cultural heritage and traditional cuisine.

As Zimbabwe continues to develop its tourism sector, the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry is working to create a unique and unforgettable experience for visitors. With its stunning natural beauty, rich history, and warm hospitality, Zimbabwe is poised to become a top destination for tourists from around the world.
