Murambinda Residents Association has raised concerns over delays in the implementation of irrigation schemes intended to draw water from Marovanyati Dam, a development seen as critical to transforming the region into a productive green belt.
The issue was highlighted during Team D budget consultations currently underway at the Better Schools Programme Zimbabwe (BSPZ) Centre in Murambinda, according to a post by the Parliament of Zimbabwe on X (formerly Twitter).
"During the session, Mr. James Chadzimura, Chairman of the Murambinda Residents Association, expressed concern over the delayed implementation of irrigation schemes meant to draw water from Marovanyati Dam," reads the post.
Getrude Chagwedera also called for the rehabilitation of the road leading to Sabi Star Mine, describing it as excessively dusty and a challenge for both motorists and residents.
Councillor Mudzimu proposed that radio and television licence fees be reduced to at least US$20, arguing that such a move would make them more affordable to the majority of motorists.
Meanwhile, the Buhera Rural District Council urged the Government to expedite the disbursement of Devolution Funds to support infrastructure development and unlock agricultural potential in the Murambinda area.
