Mysterious fire erupts in the bedroom

Mactavish Ngwenya (30) was watching TV in the living room when he saw a ball of smoke from his bedroom. Upon checking he noticed that his bedroom had caught fire and all the property was burnt.
"I was disturbed by a smell of smoke while I was watching TV in the sitting room. When I checked I saw a ball of smoke from my bedroom. I jumped to my feet to check and the bedroom was on fire," he said.
All his clothes, bed, wardrobe and a sofa which was in the bedroom were burnt, he added.
But what sent shock waves down his spine is that there was no electrical fault in the bedroom or in the house and he does not know what caused the mysterious fire.
"I phoned an electrician who came and checked and he could not detect any fault in the house and it's difficult to tell what really caused the fire. I'm shocked because I don't know when such a mysterious fire will attack again," he said.
He said he phoned the Bulawayo Fire Brigade to put out the fire.
"Before the Fire Brigade crew came, neighbours helped me to contain the raging fire. I'm really grateful for the assistance they rendered. The Fire brigade quickly came and put out the fire before it could get into other rooms," he said.
Bulawayo deputy police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele confirmed the incident.
"I can confirm that we are investigating a fire incident that occurred in Tshabalala suburb where a bedroom caught fire and property that was inside was burnt. We are yet to ascertain whether there was any foul play or not," she said.
