INSIZA - The Sikhanyisiwe Nkomo Foundation has donated US$420 towards the transportation of Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) examination scripts from eight primary schools in Insiza North's Shangani Cluster to Umzingwane, more than 150 kilometres away.

The assistance followed a request from School Development Committees (SDCs), which approached the foundation seeking support to ensure the safe and efficient transportation of examination material.

The foundation initially released US$220 on October 2 to facilitate the delivery of Paper 1 examination scripts before providing a further US$200 on October 6 for Paper 2, bringing the total contribution to US$420.

The funds were used to hire a commuter omnibus that transported deputy heads representing the participating schools to Umzingwane to submit the examination scripts.

The beneficiary schools are Debshan Primary School in Ward 13, T.M. Pagama Primary School, Rusibe Primary School, Shangani Mine Primary School in Ward 23, St Lucy Primary School in Ward 22, Siyazama Primary School, Lochard Primary School and Inyozani Primary School in Ward 14.

SDC chairperson Cingiwe Tshuma thanked the foundation for responding to the schools' request for assistance.

"We are so grateful for this donation. The Foundation sponsored us to carry examination scripts to Umzingwane. May God grant more blessings to the Foundation which truly caters for local schools," she said.

Foundation vice-director Thobekile "maNkonjeni" Mafu said the organisation remains committed to assisting communities that follow the required application procedures.

"The Foundation is open to all new applicants seeking assistance. You simply type and print your request letter through our Interim Committee Secretary. Direct calls to the Director will not be entertained," said Mafu.

She added that the foundation was still growing and encouraged well-wishers to support its community programmes.

"We are still a new and growing Foundation and well-wishers are free to support us. Let us promote the spirit of oneness and one accord as written in Acts 4:32. Empowerment is the cornerstone of the revolution," she said.

Foundation director Sikhanyisiwe Nkomo wished learners success following the completion of their examinations.

"I wish all learners who have just completed their exams well. May God bless them as they sail through to the next secondary level," she said.

Nkomo also called on parents and communities to continue fostering unity and mutual support.

"To parents, I quote Psalm 133 - let us keep working in love and unity, for God blesses a united nation that dwells in oneness and loves one another," she said.

The foundation said the intervention forms part of its broader community development initiatives aimed at supporting education and improving the welfare of communities in Insiza District.
