Acting President Phelekezela Mphoko has commissioned the Emganwini Mbundane electrification project valued at $400 000.
The project that has electrified 700 housing units in Bulawayo.
700 households have benefitted under an electrification project by the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC).
Acting President Mphoko said ZETDC's projects are in line with the government's economic blueprint ZIM ASSET which seeks to increase access to electricity.
"There are still some projects that ZETDC is currently seized with in Bulawayo which will see more than 70 000 households benefitting at a cost of US$10 million," he said.
The beneficiaries were implored to guard against vandalism which has so far seen the destruction of close to 900km of electricity lines in the western region since 2009.
To date more than 100 000 households in urban areas nationwide have no access to electricity as there is no relevant infrastructure in their areas.
