The tarring of the road linking Mberengwa and West Nicholson has been commissioned, marking the commencement of works.
Barely two weeks after Vice President Retired General Constantino Chiwenga assured the Mberengwa community at a rally in Mataga on government's position on infrastructure development, work to tar the 20 km surface has began, a sign the new dispensation is living true to its promises.
Mberengwa North legislator, Tafanana Zhou said the development is relief to the community considering some patients were dying on their way to the hospital due to the bad road network.
"We are realising the fruits of the new dispensation in fulfilling its promises," he said.
The local community believes that tarring of the road will link Mberengwa and Matabeleland South province and open business opportunities.
The road was commissioned by the Midlands Minister of State for Provincial Affairs, Owen Ncube, who reiterated that the thrust of the new dispensation led by President Emmerson Mnangagwa is hinged on the need for infrastructural development.
The tarring of the Mberengwa – Mnene road is also set to commence soon.
