President Emmerson Mnangagwa says Zanu-PF is looking beyond the 30 July elections and continuing spearheading development so that Zimbabwe becomes the jewel of Africa once more.

Addressing thousands of Zanu-PF supporters at a star rally at the Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT) grounds this afternoon, Mnangagwa said the ruling party will win the coming polls resoundingly, urging supporters to just prepare for celebrations in two weeks time.

Emphasising on his government's commitment to constitutionalism, the President said the coming the elections are an opportunity for the ruling party to be given a fresh mandate to continue implementing its vision for the country.

He said his government has already started implementing infrastructure development programmes such as roads dualisation, and expanded command agriculture programmes, which are the panacea to perennial droughts in the country.

He added that the country's development would be pinned upon devolution of power.

"For us to prosper, we should leverage on what every province has for development in that region. Mashonaland West has everything in place for development. We are talking about devolution so that provinces fail on their own," Mnangagwa said.

The President also spoke of his visit to China, describing it as highly successful and he got everything that he tabled before President Xi Jinping, including the waiving of the Zimbabwean debt to China and funding for several projects.

He slammed corrupt tendencies, saying in the new dispensation, Zimbabweans people should be rewarded for hard work.

The President also called for peace and unity in Zimbabwe and in the party, saying leaders must remember that power is derived from the people.
