Home Affairs Minister Cain Ndabazekhaya Ginyilitshe Mathema says he has unearthed a plot by some foreign nationals working with civic society organisations to unseat the government of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
In a press briefing held on Monday said, "We have received information to the effect that a group of foreign nationals wants to organize a 3-day civic organization workshop in Bulawayo in May 2019. The main agenda of the workshop is to mobilise and capacitate civic organisations and individuals to stage effective demonstrations and disturbances to overthrow the ZANU PF government."
Mathema added that the government through the Ministry of Home Affairs will ensure that peace and order prevail in the country.
"My ministry has since directed the Commissioner General of Police to put adequate security measures in place to deal with anyone who engages in any form of violence and disturbances."
