Zimbabwe saw its deadliest day yet in Covid-19 mortality on Monday, reporting an unprecedented 60 deaths and 689 new infections. 36 of the fatalities are in Harare alone, followed by Manicaland (10) and the Midlands (5). Cumulatively, deaths are now at 773.
The country recorded 689 new Covid-19 positive cases and 60 deaths on Monday. All 689 cases are local cases with 339 cases from Harare alone. A total of 3 829 PCR tests were conducted and this means 18% of people tested were positive. New recoveries were 860.
The national recovery rate stands at 62.3 percent and active cases slightly came down to 9 747.
"As at 13 January 2021, Zimbabweans has recorded 27 892 confirmed cases, including 17 372 recoveries and 773 deaths," reads statistics from the Ministry of Health and Child Care.
