Zanu-PF calls Harare structures to order

ZANU-PF has urged its Harare provincial structures to work in unity and prioritize party growth to effectively challenge the opposition in future elections. The call for cohesion comes amid reports of internal disputes and strong words exchanged by senior party members on social media.

Speaking after the ZANU-PF Harare Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting yesterday, Political Commissar Munyaradzi Machacha addressed the need for discipline and harmony within the province, especially at the leadership level. According to Machacha, unresolved grievances and disciplinary issues stem from how primary elections were conducted, sparking interpersonal tensions within the party.

"We discussed interpersonal relations among party members to ensure there is harmony within the province, particularly at leadership level," Machacha said, emphasizing that the focus should be on uniting members to build a strong and effective structure capable of competing with the opposition.

A key topic at the PCC meeting was the inappropriate use of social media by party members. Machacha called for an end to name-dropping and abusive language, warning that those who continue to misuse online platforms would face disciplinary action. "We have brought that to a stop and warned them that anyone who continues in that direction, disciplinary measures will be taken against them," he said.

The Harare provincial leadership is tasked with reinforcing party structures, focusing on restructuring cells and villages and addressing any challenges encountered during the process. Machacha noted that the province is closely monitoring progress in these areas to bolster the party's base.

The PCC meeting saw participation from other high-ranking ZANU-PF officials, including Secretary for Legal Affairs Patrick Chinamasa, Secretary for Security Lovemore Matuke, Deputy Secretary for Security Tendai Chirau, Secretary for Education, Research, and Ideology Charles Tawengwa, Deputy Secretary for Economic Affairs Andy Mhlanga, and members of the Harare provincial executive.

With these initiatives, ZANU-PF aims to build a unified front in Harare, strengthening its political presence and preparing for future electoral contests.
