MOUNT DARWIN - A 45-year-old woman from Mutungagore in Mt Darwin tragically lost her life after falling into a concealed pit while attempting to relieve herself in a bushy area.
Dorica Kanyama was walking with her husband on October 23 when she stepped aside to answer the call of nature. According to Mashonaland Central deputy police spokesperson Lucy Chigwenhese, Kanyama accidentally fell headfirst into a five-metre-deep pit hidden by grass and foliage.
"She screamed, prompting her husband to rush to the scene, where he found her in the pit. Villagers helped retrieve her, but she was bleeding from the head and died upon arrival at Mt Darwin Hospital," Chigwenhese said.
Police have urged the public to exercise caution when walking in bushy or unfamiliar areas and to be vigilant of hidden hazards.
