The Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) has announced the death of Brigadier General (Retired) Mark Charles Chimwaza, who passed away on Saturday after a short illness. He was 68.
In a statement, the Commander of the Zimbabwe National Army, Lieutenant General Asher Walter Tapfumaneyi, expressed sadness at the loss of the former senior officer.
"The Commander of the Zimbabwe National Army, Lieutenant General Asher Walter Tapfumaneyi, is saddened to announce the untimely death of Brigadier General (Retired) Mark Charles Chimwaza," the statement read.
According to the ZNA, Brigadier General Chimwaza died at his home in Kuwadzana, Harare, on Saturday, 13 December 2025.
Mourners are gathered at House Number 5373, Kuwadzana 7, in Harare, where family, friends and colleagues are paying their respects.
Details regarding funeral arrangements are expected to be announced in due course.
Brigadier General Chimwaza served in the Zimbabwe National Army for many years before his retirement and is remembered as a dedicated officer who contributed to the development of the country's defence forces.
