Vendors4ED rebrands as Patriotic Vendors4ED

THE alleged abuse and diversion of US$125 000 from the US$200 000 Presidential empowerment fund allocated to vendors across Zimbabwe's 10 provinces has prompted a rebranding of the organisation formerly known as Vendors4ED. It will now operate under the name Patriotic Vendors4ED.
The organisation's former national executive, led by national chairman Samora Chisvo, was accused of misusing empowerment funds, leading the new leadership to distance themselves from past controversies.
Last month, a new executive was appointed, with Samu Jere as national chairman and Albi Marima as secretary-general, replacing Chisvo and former secretary Bright Kwinjo, who have since been expelled. The new leadership also suspended several members for their alleged involvement in the mismanagement of funds. Suspended members include Sindisiwe Moyo, Sekai Nyoni, Florence Ncube, Kelvin Mavura, Simelenkosi Ncube, Tendai Charuka (Bulawayo ex-patron), and Bindura-based national member Edson Chibaya.
According to Dumiso Makhalima, Patriotic Vendors4ED media, information and publicity officer, investigations revealed that the misappropriated US$125 000 — intended to provide US$20 000 per province — had been shared among leaders rather than reaching vendors.
"Scrutiny over the handling of funds and investigations are currently underway. After noticing that the name Vendors4ED had been tarnished and was heading for a downfall, the new national executive registered the affiliate under the new banner name Patriotic Vendors4ED," Makhalima said.
The change comes alongside a wider vetting process initiated by Zanu-PF's commissariat department on February 4 and 5 at party headquarters in Harare, aimed at restructuring affiliates to ensure accountability and formal operations.
Makhalima emphasised that the new executive is committed to professionalism, servant leadership, and loyalty to President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
The rebranding and restructuring are intended to restore credibility to the organisation and ensure that empowerment funds are properly distributed to the intended beneficiaries.
