Zanu-PF clamps down on parliamentarians

ZANU-PF says it is closely monitoring the performance of its Members of Parliament to ensure they are meeting expectations in their respective constituencies and advancing development at grassroots level in line with Vision 2030.

Addressing party supporters in Zone Six, Harare provincial vice chairman Ephraim Fundukwa said the initiative focuses on evaluating progress within each constituency and gathering feedback directly from the electorate.

He explained that the party is assessing levels of community satisfaction as part of efforts to promote accountability and responsiveness among both sitting MPs and shadow MPs.

"Vision 2030 is real; it requires everyone in a position of authority to pull in one direction," Fundukwa said. He added that legislators are expected to drive President Emmerson Mnangagwa's agenda of leaving no one and no place behind.

Fundukwa stressed that MPs and councillors have a responsibility to ensure communities have access to essential services such as clean water and accessible roads. He warned against complacency, saying the era of prioritising personal comfort over constituency development was over.

"The party cannot afford to lose trust from the people because of an individual who is not willing to support the President's agenda. It's better to lose an MP than lose the electorate," he said.
