A village head under Chief Ndanga in Zaka is currently at large after allegedly stabbing three people amid ongoing land disputes in which he is accused of illegally selling land.
George Muvavi, village head of Mukambwe Village, reportedly attacked two villagers from a neighbouring community and a local teacher. Police confirmed that he is being sought in connection with the incidents, along with his brother Tinashe Muvavi.
The attacks occurred on February 14, 2026. Masvingo Provincial deputy police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Masauso Patinyu, said investigations are ongoing. One of the victims, Tatenda Tinarwo, is currently admitted at Masvingo Provincial Hospital, while another is a 16-year-old relative of a neighbouring village head. The third victim is a teacher at Muchechetere School.
The sequence of alleged attacks began at Chipato Shopping Centre, where Tinashe allegedly stabbed the juvenile victim on the hand. Later that evening, the brothers reportedly went to Jerera Shopping Centre, where George allegedly stabbed Tatenda in the chest. At Chipato Shopping Centre, George is also accused of stabbing the teacher in the face with a bottle.
The Muvavi family has been embroiled in disputes over land sales affecting Tinarwo Village, Mashanyare Village, and surrounding areas, with multiple cases brought before the courts. Zaka Magistrates Court recently issued an order barring Frank, Stanford, Eunice Muvavi, and Alfred Runyadza from selling, allocating, or settling people on land forming part of Tinarwo Village. The court also prohibited the respondents from burying relatives, erecting graves, or farming on the disputed land without proper authorization.
The matter remains under investigation, and authorities are urging anyone with information on George Muvavi's whereabouts to come forward.
