Sonja Madzikanda, the former wife of businessman Wicknell Chivayo, says she has been arrested after Chivayo allegedly accused her of stealing his mobile phone and leaking a "compromising" video involving Cyril Ramaphosa.
According to Madzikanda, the disputed footage allegedly shows Chivayo meeting Ramaphosa well before their widely publicised encounter at Pricabe Farm in Kwekwe during the South African president's recent visit to Zimbabwe.
The claims have sparked political speculation because Ramaphosa's office had previously maintained that the Kwekwe meeting was the first interaction between the South African leader and Chivayo.
Madzikanda alleged that police arrested her following a complaint made by Chivayo, who reportedly claimed that she unlawfully accessed his phone and leaked the video.
Authorities had not publicly commented on the allegations at the time of publication, and the authenticity of the alleged video has not been independently verified.
The matter has generated significant interest on social media, with users questioning the nature of the relationship between Chivayo and senior political figures in both Zimbabwe and South Africa.
Neither Ramaphosa's office nor Chivayo had issued an official statement responding to the latest claims.
