Lieutenant Colonel Francis Ndlovu has officially assumed command of the 4.1 Combat Group in Masvingo Province, taking over from Colonel Maddison Moyo, who has been redeployed to Zimbabwe Defence Forces Headquarters for a new appointment.
The handover-takeover ceremony was conducted in line with military tradition, featuring formal protocol, drills and a symbolic transfer of authority.
In his farewell remarks, Col Moyo expressed appreciation for the support received during his tenure and highlighted the unit's operational and training achievements. He urged continued teamwork under the incoming commander.
Lieutenant Colonel Ndlovu, in his acceptance speech, said he was honoured to take up the role and committed to executing his duties with humility, discipline and dedication to service.
"I humbly accept the responsibility to command 4.1 Combat Group with the seriousness it deserves," he said.
Commander of 4 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier General Oscar Tshuma, officiated the ceremony and emphasised the importance of unity, loyalty, discipline and patriotism within the ranks.
He commended the outgoing commander for strengthening cooperation within the unit and with local communities, saying such relations were key to operational effectiveness.
Brig Gen Tshuma also urged the incoming commander to maintain and build on the standards already established.
The Zimbabwe Defence Forces said leadership transitions remain a core tradition within the force, reflecting continuity, discipline and institutional stability across its units, including the Zimbabwe National Army.
