MEMBERS of Parliament have been summoned to an extraordinary sitting of the National Assembly on Tuesday to consider and vote on amendments made by the Senate to the Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3.

The recall was announced by Clerk of Parliament Kennedy Chokuda through General Notice 1003 of 2026, directing all legislators to attend the special sitting.

According to the notice, President Emmerson Mnangagwa invoked Section 110(2)(c) of the Constitution to convene the extraordinary session.

"In terms of Section 110 (2)(C) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, His Excellency, the President, Dr E.D. Mnangagwa, has summoned the National Assembly to sit on Tuesday 30th June 2026, at 1415 hours, to consider amendments to Constitution Amendment Bill No. 3 (H.B. 1B, 2026) that was passed by Senate," Chokuda said.

"All members of the National Assembly are, therefore, summoned to attend the extraordinary sitting of the National Assembly in Parliament."

The special sitting follows the Senate's passage of the Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3, with amendments that now require consideration by the National Assembly before the legislative process can be concluded.

The Bill has generated significant public and political debate, with supporters arguing that the proposed changes will improve governance, while critics have expressed concern over some of its provisions.

Tuesday's sitting will determine whether the National Assembly accepts the amendments introduced by the Senate, marking another key stage in the passage of the controversial constitutional amendment legislation.
