Scottland FC are preparing an ambitious move to sign Namibian striker Peter Shalulile after tabling a reported R4.1 million (US$250,000) signing-on package as they strengthen their squad for next season's CAF Champions League campaign.
The Harare-based club, which will make its debut in Africa's premier club competition in the 2026/27 season, has already demonstrated its intent in the transfer market by securing Malawian international defender Nickson Nyasulu from FC Platinum. The focus has now shifted to one of Southern Africa's most prolific forwards.
Sources indicate that Scottland are eager to capitalise on Shalulile's impending free-agent status when his contract with South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns expires at the end of June.
The 32-year-old endured a frustrating campaign under Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso, struggling for regular game time despite his impressive pedigree. During the recently concluded Betway Premiership season, Shalulile made just 13 league appearances, scoring three goals.
Across all competitions, the Namibian international featured 23 times and found the back of the net six times. In league action, he started only seven matches, made six appearances from the bench and was an unused substitute on four occasions as Cardoso preferred Iqraam Rayners and Arthur Sales in attack.
Despite his reduced role, Shalulile remains one of the Premier Soccer League's greatest goalscorers. He is the PSL era's all-time leading scorer across all competitions with more than 130 goals, having surpassed the previous record of 129 goals held by Siyabonga Nomvethe.
Scottland are reportedly offering the veteran forward a lucrative R4.1 million signing-on fee in an effort to convince him to move to Zimbabwe when the country's mid-season transfer window opens from July 1 to July 31. While details of the proposed monthly salary have not been disclosed, club officials are understood to be determined to secure a marquee signing capable of spearheading their continental ambitions.
Should the move materialise, Shalulile would reunite with fellow Namibian Moses Shidolo, who is already an important member of the Scottland squad.
However, Scottland are expected to face stiff competition for the striker's signature. Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah, together with several unnamed clubs from the Middle East, are also reportedly monitoring the experienced forward.
Scottland's growing ambition will also be on display later this month when the Zimbabwean champions face Kaizer Chiefs in the 2026 Toyota Cup at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg on July 26. The annual pre-season tournament has become one of the region's showcase events, with Chiefs previously hosting Young Africans of Tanzania in 2024 and Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko in 2025.
Landing a player of Shalulile's stature would represent one of the biggest transfers in Zimbabwean club football and underline Scottland's determination to make an immediate impact on the continental stage.
