THE Bulawayo man who failed to register to vote in the first phase of mobile voter registration after being told that he could not take a national identity card as he was recorded dead in 2008, says he is still stranded as the Registrar General (RG)'s Office was delaying in issuing him new documents.
Bulawayo Provincial Registrar Jane Peters told John Mhlanga that they would help him get new documents, although they first had to investigate.
Mhlanga yesterday told Southern Eye he was stranded, as he urgently needed a national identity card to register to vote for the elections.
"I am still facing a challenge in that I still have not managed to secure my ID from the authorities," he said.
"It is still the same and things have not gotten better as I might end up failing to register yet again to vote in the elections."
Mhlanga called on the RG's Office to quicken the process, as he was running out of time to register.
"I am worried that things are being delayed as I am being frequently promised that things will be alright soon, but the process seems to be taking long," he said.
Peters had promised him that she was going to write a letter and send it by yesterday so that his ID issue could be resolved.
"I don't know why it is very difficult because I have all the particulars needed to get an ID," he said.
"This issue needs to be solved because I am really stranded, I just need an ID."
