A Chitungwiza man landed himself in trouble after he slipped into the blankets of a mourner at a funeral and fondled her.
Terrence Bwanali (27) of Zengeza 1 on June 18 allegedly attended a funeral a few houses away from his. During the same night, Kudzai Muzamindo (37) of Cold Comfort, Tynwald, in Harare was at the funeral and slept outside the house with her sister.
Early morning at around 5:30am, the court heard that Muzamindo's sister woke up and went to the back of the house to warm herself on the fire. This was the time that Bwanali slipped into her blankets.
It is alleged that she never suspected anything bad, but was only surprised after she felt some movements of being caressed. Bwanali allegedly attempted to reach for her privates, but failed.
She reportedly got hold of his hand during the process and he apologised pretending to have been sleeping with other men.
He told her that he was suffering from mental challenges leading to Muzamindo screaming for help.
Sensing danger, Bwanali wrestled from her grip and took to his heels. However, he ran out of luck after other mourners went after him.
They apprehended and took him to the police, leading to his arrest. Appearing before Chitungwiza magistrate Mr Lazarus Murendo, Bwanali denied indecent assault charges.
He was remanded to Friday for trial. Mr Henry Muringani appeared for the State.
