A 34-year-year-old man from Gokwe allegedly stabbed his three brothers and struck them with bricks and an iron bar in a fight over alcohol.
Clement Kadaravambe of Kanyemba Village under Chief Sayi in Gokwe South pleaded not guilty to attempted murder when he appeared before regional magistrate Mr Amos Mbobo to answer to three counts of attempted murder.
Kadaravambe was remanded in custody to December 23 for trial.
For the State, Mr Robert Ndlala alleged that on October 19 at around 8pm, the accused was drinking beer in the company of three brothers – Mike, Simbarashe and Misheck Shonhiwa – of the same village at Mangidi Business Centre when he left his drink unattended.
Mr Ndlala said when the accused returned, he accused Mike of taking his beer without permission.
The court heard that a heated argument ensued resulting in the accused drawing a knife from his pocket and stabbing Mike once in the face.
It is alleged that Mike's brothers, Simbarashe and Misheck, tried to restrain the accused but were also stabbed in the face and the left eye, respectively.
Kadaravambe, the court heard, then struck Simbarashe on the head with a brick, and Misheck with an iron bar.
Other patrons at the bar helped to subdue the accused, it is alleged.
A police report was made leading to Kadaravambe's arrest.
