RELAGATED …Simon Khaya loses VP post, Mnangagwa faction wins big

FORMER Zanu PF Chairman ambassador Simon Khaya today lost the Vice President Post – which he was almost certain to get - to his nemesis Ambassador Phelekezela Mphoko who was named by President Mugabe as the country's second VP alongside Emmerson Mnangagwa long seen as a front runner in the coveted post and de facto President.
Khaya-Moyo who also lost the chairman after it was abolished - with the two deputies set to rotate as chairmen was relegated to the Information and publicity portfolio and is tipped to be the party's spokesperson after he acted in that capacity following the firing of Rugare Gumbo.
Other big wigs who were disappointed after they were left out in the presidium are Home Affairs minister Kembo Mohadi and Edna Madzongwe - who had till the fateful day of December 12, were tipped to land the coveted posts after sharing the high table with the aging Mugabe at the party's just ended Congress.
The Mnangagwa faction which successful vanquished a faction led by ousted former VP Joice Mujuru has emerged as the biggest winner after most of its members notably Jonathan Moyo, Ignatius Chombo, Saviour Kasukuwere, Oppah Muchunguri got central committee and politburo posts.
