The late sungura maestro Tongai Moyo's legacy
still lives on as witnessed on Friday when his son Peter proved that
with time he can be counted among the best, Daily News reports.
Indeed the Friday concert in Gweru, at Midlands Hotel proved that Peter would eventually fit into his father's class and bill.
Peter sent crowds in frenzy as he performed alongside the late Leonard Dembo's sons Morgan and Tendai.
The 22 year old singer proved he had what it took and is a marvel to watch.
Apparently the show came almost three weeks after the departure of his father and with all eyes set on Peter, he did not disappoint.
Peter emerged on the Zimbabwean musical scene, not so long ago. The new Utakataka Express, front man started off as a driver, before learning to play the guitar and later on perfected his vocals.
Such popular tunes as Muridzi wenyaya, Ndinotenda deya, Muchina muhombe, Maths among others endeared the youthful Moyo to the evidently vibrant fans who had filled the venue to the capacity.
However, the impressive show that was put up by Moyo, has proved that Dhewa lives and the young man is a just a star.
He however, he left the stage while fans still were asking him for more. Speaking to Daily News after the performance, Moyo said it was an experience to perform to a crowd that dances and relates to the rhythm
of his music.
"It was an encouraging experience to perform at such a platform where I communicated to the audience and they responded positively throughout the show," Moyo said.
