A member of the Zimbabwe National Army based in Binga has reportedly joined hands with the ruling Zanu PF ward 17 leadership to block some villagers at Musazi village from getting the government food aid on conditions they were supporters of the main opposition MDC-T.

Zimbabwe Peace Project reported that it is alleged that in Binga South, Musazi village Zanu PF Ward 17 official Amos Munsaka and a soldier identified also as Munsaka barred Musazi villagers from accessing welfare food aid saying the village was predominantly an MDC-T area.

"They said as they are heading towards 2018 elections they had to ensure only loyal Zanu PF members benefitted. Police from Lusulu Camp barred the local Member of Parliament, Joel Gabuza, from entering the GMB premises when he sought to clarify the matter," said ZPP.

"Two Binga village heads, Mathias Mwinde, Manoti Mudanda and one official from a nongovernmental organisation responsible for food aid confirmed that senior village head and Zanu PF District Chairperson, Thaddeus Mwemba, barred them and their villagers from receiving food relief from the social welfare department. They also alleged that on two occasions they were stopped from attending a peace building workshop hosted by Christian Care and told that it was because they are MDC-T supporters."
