Zanu PF has launched a "hurricane" campaign in Chimanimani West in a bid to retain the vacant seat during the November 26 by-elections.

The seat was left vacant after the recall of former legislator and deputy energy minister Munacho Mutezo who was expelled from Zanu PF.

On Saturday, all Politburo and Central Committee members from Manicaland addressed rallies in all the party's 12 political districts.

It is targeting to garner more than 15 000 voted.

Its candidate Nokuthula Matsikenyere will square off with Peter Gudyanga of Renewal Democrats of Zimbabwe, Edmore Mtetwa (Independent) and Pesanai Musakaruka of the the National Constitutional Assembly.

According to state run Herald, Matsikenyere is certain of victory.

"Here in Chimanimani West I can safely tell you that we have already won the constituency but what we want is to surpass the number of votes got by the previous Member of Parliament, Munacho Mutezo.

"Victory is certain but what we want is to surpass the 9 000 votes garnered by Mutezo in the last election and we are targeting 15 000 votes. We are not leaving any stone unturned in this endeavour.

"This constituency will never be the same again".

In October she donated 3000 cabbages to primary schools in the constituency.
