Foiled demos frustrates Biti

The failed demonstrations planned for today has left People's Democratic Party leader Tendai Biti frustrated.
The protests - dubbed #MunhuWeseMuRoad (Everyone to the Streets) - was meant to bring together various social movement groups to protest against the introduction of the surrogate currency reportedly to mitigate the current cash shortages the country is facing.
However, unprecedented heavy police presence and low turnout in the wake of alleged abduction and torture of one of the organisers of the protest Patson Dzamara foiled the demo.
Biti took to twitter to vent his anger at the ruling Zanu PF.
"The fascist regime in full force thwarting the people's anger.
"The closure of democratic spaces leads inevitably to pursuit of extralegal means of achieving change".
He said new strategies and better coordination required.
He posted pictures of riot police right behind him.
