The Regional Tourism Organization of Southern Africa (RETOSA) Youth in Tourism Essay Competition deadline for submission of essays has been extended to 22 August 2014. This is due to requests from several schools and students within the region who have been unable to submit essays due to prior school commitments. If you have not already submitted your essay, you now have the opportunity to do so.

The essay competition is targeted at scholars between the ages of 7 to 18 years, under the theme, "Sustainable Tourism Development: Tourism and Development in the Community". Participants from primary and secondary schools are invited to submit essays on the topics allocated for the two respective categories. The essay topics and competition guidelines can be found on www.retosa.co.za.

All submissions are to be submitted electronically. This competition will culminate with the selection of two winners who will be crowned Junior Tourism Ministers for one year. The finalists will be sponsored to attend the Regional Youth in Tourism Conference to be held in Mauritius from 25th to the 26th of September 2014, where they will make their final presentations and the winners announced.

RETOSA once again encourages every school child in the SADC region to participate in the essay competition.
