On behalf of the residents and the general community of Gwanda, Gwanda Residents Association would like to congratulate the City of Bulawayo for being voted as the best run council in the country.
In the region and the country, Bulawayo has through generations been known to be the epitome of all the good that would be expected of a growing African City.
This honour awarded to the City of Bulawayo comes to us the people of Gwanda as not a surprise of the nature of our big brother Bulawayo, but as a confirmation of what our people are capable of doing when given an opportunity to perform.
On behalf of the people of Gwanda we would like to send our joy to the Mayor, Councillors, Town Clerk, Council employees, residents representatives and the general populace of this big city for this recognition and say "Masiyephambili."
Through the years, Gwanda has been known to be THE direct brother to Bulawayo and our culture teaches that whenever a brother excels in an aspect he must make sure that his younger brother catches up too.
This award is therefore a direct challenge to the City of Bulawayo to make sure that their traditional young brother catches up to the performances of Bulawayo.
It will be the greatest folly for Bulawayo to retain and remain in such glory on their own yet their brothers drown in mismanagement and failures.
Special accolades need to be extended to the Bulawayo Residents Associations and all civic organisations in the City who have not only managed to give support to council, but to also work as a barometer to keep it under checks and balances and on its toes.
The cordial and development oriented relationship between City of Bulawayo and all stakeholders in the city particularly with Residents representation is a sure recipe for success which we can only envy for all local authorities in the country to emulate, Gwanda included.
To the government and investors in general, this award to Bulawayo is a sure pointer to the direction to which good hands for trusted investment and management can be found.
The culture of Bulawayo is sure the culture of Gwanda too and as Bulawayo gets to overflow with investments and development certainly the crumbs shall find their way to us.
Amhlophe Bulawayo, abantwana bomamamunye baqumelana ingqondo lentethe.
