The weekend of the 28th to the 30th of August 2015 shall remain in the minds and mouths of the people of Gwanda for years to come.

This is the weekend where the town hosts arguably the biggest musical concert to happen in the region.

As residents we feel very lucky to have brought to our doorsteps a contingent of some of South Africa, Africa and indeed the world's top most African Contemporary Gospel music singers.

It is everyone's dream to leave this earth having had an opportunity to witness a live performance by the confirmed Queen of African Gospel Rebecca Malope. The dream all but becomes an unbelievable reality when she has to make her way to our good old dusty Jahunda Township.

As residents of Gwanda we would like to thank the Brethren In Christ Church Gwanda and all those around the event for giving us this once in a life opportunity.

We are particularly humbled that the main partner in bringing the event to Gwanda is a child of Gwanda who most of us saw growing and playing in the town from the most humble of background very typical of the majority of the residency of our town.

It is our belief that everyone from Gwanda wherever they maybe in the world can see and copy from the example that our son has set in remembering the people left behind in this our great home of Gwanda.

To the community of the Brethren In Christ Church, we would like to send our heartfelt congratulations as residents for managing to struggle through and build the huge temple of the Lord which we believe you have built for the entire community of Gwanda.
For years the community of Gwanda has been battling to have a facility where a huge number of people can congregate and get closer to God whatever the occasion.

It is therefore our sincere hope that finally God has answered the prayers of the people of Gwanda and built a temple not only for the BICC family but for the entire community of Gwanda.

The town is expecting a huge influx of visitors from surrounding areas and even further off and it is our humble opportunity as residents to welcome our visitors to this lovely town of ours.

Gwanda is traditionally known for its crime free hospitality and it is our promise that as you come to join us in praise and worship of our Lord Jesus Christ you shall enjoy our true traditional hospitality.

To the artists who have accepted the invitation to come over and bless us in song and dance we would like to give our highest order of gratitude and promise you an audience you have never seen before.
Peace and love is our trade mark and that we guarantee you throughout your stay with us.

It's most unfortunate that you visit us at a time when we least would have wanted to have visitors. The country is currently going through a minor challenge on the supply of electricity forcing us to have extended load shedding hours.

You also find us going through a time of water rationing as a result of reduced supply capabilities by our service provider due to circumstances beyond their control.

It is our hope that though quite inconveniencing you will be able to bear with the circumstances we are in. We do believe that our city fathers have the situation under control and will make every effort possible to reduce the inconvenience and make you as comfortable as possible.

Events of this magnitude do come with a lot of opportunities that benefit the local person on the ground either in job opportunities and/or business opportunities.

It is our humble submission as residents that our local people be given the priority to benefit from the business and job opportunities before people from elsewhere are considered. It will be the most regretted event if it would come and go without prioritising our local people.

As residents of Gwanda we sincerely hope that this concert will live to its billing and win a soul or two to the Lord.

Issued by the Gwanda Residents Association Information and Publicity Office.
