We hope we will be safe under the new leadership - Siyaso SME's

Small and Medium Enterprises (SME's) situated at Mbare's Siyaso Home Industry hope to be safe from being forced to attend Zanu PF rallies and meetings as had become the norm under the former leadership.
The SME's said that those who would abscond from attending the rallies and meetings would be victimised and labelled sell-outs.
This practice had become an economic threat as production time would be lost while attending the Zanu PF functions.
Since the coming in of the new leadership, the SME's said rallies and meetings are yet to be held in Mbare.
"Whenever a meeting was called for, we were forced to stop work and attend the rallies; we were used," said an SME who requested anonymity.
"Since the coming in of the new leadership there hasn't been a meeting. The meetings had become too frequent," added the SME.
The Siyaso SME's have been labelled as G40 functionaries due to supporting the former first lady, Dr Grace Mugabe.
"We were known as vana vaMai. We hope we will be safe under the new leadership," said another SME.
Some of the SME's said that they had been accorded benefits under the former leadership; mainly, free electricity.
However, efforts to ascertain the authenticity of the claim was fruitless as Zesa's spokesperson Fullard Gwasira's phone went unanswered before publication.
Zanu PF has since said that ‘gone are the day's people will be forced to attend meetings'.
