Sons and daughters of the soil

The former white commercial farmers will be receiving compensation for lost farms soon, or so it is said. This is happening when gratuities or tokens of appreciation for war collaborators are still a subject that is mentioned in passing with nothing materialising.

Talk of their vetting and subsequent compensation has remained just that, talks. Their numbers are dwindling fast as they are demised daily by time, when shall this constituency ululate and sing in jubilation for recognition of the important part they played during the Second Chimurenga?

Chimbwido and Mujimba were the vanguard of the liberation war making it possible for our gallant combatants to prevail over the enemy. Food and logistics was quite a challenge for the fighters but the war collaborators lessened the burden.

Indeed its good to compensate the former white farmers but how about the war collaborators who are wallowing in poverty in the land they bravely stood up for? Surely a few RTGS and a piece of the motherland would help heal their festering wounds.

Now stooped with age, the war collaborators have nothing to show for their effort. Fading memories of the battles and near death experiences are all they cradle for appeasement.

May the relevant authorities please remember Mujibha and Chimbwindo, they are sons and daughters of the soil.
