Beer prices have reduced cases of domestic violence
05 May 2019 at 11:55hrs | Views
'Wine that gladdens the heart of man'. Beer prices are ever climbing up far away from the hands of many would be imbibers let alone mouths of merry-makers and pub crawlers. Paying tribute to Bacchus the goddess of wine has become a daunting task.
The brown bottle is drifting away as if afraid of being downed by the thirsty beer lovers. The rural folk has resorted to drinking the opaque 'seven days' home brew with some cheeky drinkers adding value by distilling the brew to make 'kachasu', a clear version of the traditional 'masese'.
That occasional night singing by drunkards has since died down, even cases of alcohol induced domestic violence have become seldom.
Watering holes like Mereki, Zindoga etc are slowly turning into places of worship for the white garment sects who can crusade all night serenading the locality to doze off. The few who can still afford a drink or two are saying the taste is now beyond words.
Just looking at the moist beer quart can have one salivating and drooling in anticipation of the soothing taste of beer. The shelf life has improved resulting in mature drink rolling down the throats of takers.
Not only beer lovers are crying tears of sobriety, thigh vendors, bar maids and waiters are also wailing and sobbing for fallen incomes. Not all hope is lost since we still have plenty spaces in churches.
Brothers and Sisters the time is now to get salvation, the Word is calling.
