Masembura and Musana communal lands in Bindura South Constituency in Mashonaland Central Province is set to benefit from the partnership entered by Masembura-Musana Development Association with Breakthrough Partners, after a two day community leaders network workshop held in Soshanguwe, Pretoria, attended by representatives of the MAMUDA executive.
The workshop which was attended by representatives from eight countries which included United States, Rwanda, Tanzania, South Africa, Swaziland, Ivory Coast, Zambia and Zimbabwe was facilitated by the Founder and President of Breakthrough Partners Gary L. Edmonds, and the Executive Director of Breakthrough Partners in Africa Steve Thobela.
The Zimbabwean delegation was made up of; MAMUDA chairman Mr. B. Dengu, Vice Chairman Mr. K. M. Mandaza, Mr. J. Masanzu and Mr. S. Chinyani. Other notable attendees were Bruce Bushman, Senior Vice President of Wells Fargo Bank; Scott Liston Finance Manager of Venntis Technologies and Chris Black owner of Dynamic Business Star-up Project.
The workshop aimed at maximising the capacity of local collaborative leaders so that they can bring impoverished and underdeveloped communities to self sustainability. These leaders will transform their communities by developing community leaders who will connect with people with investment. The leaders will collaborate in communities for responsible ownership of developed and shun dependency on sponsorship or donors. This team of leaders seek to cultivate a transformation process which is based on building relationships among community stakeholders based on trust and shared vision, which will then lead to collaboration by the stakeholders in initiating and implementing development projects in their communities. The net effect of such a transformation process is sustained development which depends on the usage of natural resources which communities have. Such an approach resonates well with the indigenisation and economic policies being advocated by President R. G. Mugabe and Zanu-PFPF.
MAMUDA found the workshop enriching and in sync with its development aspirations and approach for Masembura and Musana. The representatives of MAMUDA were thrilled with the features of the sustainable transformation process which are similar to what they have been advocating for to bring sustained development in the communities of Musana and Masembura. Such features of the transformation compliment government and ZANU PF's quest for communities to turn into masters of their destiny using what they have. The features include; collaborative leaders, entrepreneurial development, commerce cooperatives, disciple the children and the youth who are the future and community justice.
MAMUDA representatives had the opportunity to have a closed door meeting with the President of Breakthrough Partners, Executive Director of Breakthrough in Africa and the Senior Vice President of Wells Fargo Bank. After the meeting the MAMUDA representatives left beaming with great expectations of turning the fortunes of the Masembura and Musana communities.
For MAMUDA sharing experiences and ideas with other leaders with great passion in assisting the development of impoverished communities was an eye opener and will soon start benefiting Bindura South Constituency.
It is the hope of MAMUDA and Breakthrough Partners that all stakeholders in Masembura and Musana will partner in a strong way in using what communities have, that is, their richness in human and natural resources, to ensure sustained development.
