The first lady Being Misunderstood

ZUPA which represents the interests of millions of economically disadvantaged people acknowledges and express regret at the bitter divisions over what was said during the "Meet the People" tour. We are troubled about how the first lady has been seriously misunderstood.  This misunderstanding has caused the national leadership to take eye off' the economy. This must to stop. This moment does not require this kind of thinking. It does not require having same unproductive debates and misunderstanding. We however think that in retrospect the first lady could have used a different tone, a different rhetoric. Phrases such as "pasi negarmertox" or "demons", "spilling blood" and references to man from Matabeleland may have indicated to people that she was not a leader of peace or a unifier.  We believe it isn't late for the first lady to put the record straight- communicate effectively to help the nation understand her better and make sure that others don't make the same mistakes. We believe there's no way that the first lady could sleep comfortably knowing that she is being misunderstood and misinterpreted by the press. We fully agree with the first lady that the least patriotic thing we can all do is not to speak out on issues that matters most, to call a spade a spade. Speak Out Against  and build awareness,  educate on key issues such as Vendor victimisation by authorities, abuse of children and the vulnerable, Domestic violence, corruption, looting of diamonds, factionalism, poor leadership and lack of unity of purposes amongst government official especially in the implementation of government policy to revive the economy and create jobs.  Looking at what our parents, grandparents went through to liberate our country, and we will be unpatriotic if we didn't honor their efforts with clear positions on corruption, poor leadership and so on. After hearing video clips and reading articles from various media practitioners' people get quite disturbed to the point of commenting in haste. Bias means we ignore all evidence to the contrary. We choose to carry on with conspiracy theories and delusions.  Some of these comments on the first lady have been unproductive, slanderous, and quite hypocritical. It is impossible for one to appreciate baseless comments as they slander a brave woman while at the same time claiming to support our freedoms as guaranteed by the constitution. if others  are allowed to speak, then certainly the first lady is  allowed to speak  and express her thoughts as well, is she  not. All we are saying is that as a people we need to sit and listen to the first lady recount the struggles of her plight and that of her party. We are glad that because of the first lady, at one point these leaders must think of things that they did and continue to do wrong so that they can change and start seeing some of the errors of their ways. People can't change the mistakes they made in the past, but can learn from them. At this point, if they simply learns from their  mistakes and passes that knowledge onto future leaders, who will  be our next president, maybe, just maybe this country will have a shot at doing something beyond simply sliding into political factions, poverty, unemployment irrelevance as we  are  seemingly doing today. This kind of politics has set us back decades with its gross incompetence on both the local and international front.  Since when does questioning an individual's loyalty record and capacity equate with questioning his/her patriotism or suitability for presidency. There's a fine distinction between serving your party and its leadership, your country and serving your country well. We believe it's an entirely legitimate and necessary and valid enterprise, particularly when said individual is likely to run for office. We may have a different hermeneutics, a different way of doing the necessary politics, and a different epistemological grounding, but let's s embrace an absolutely humbling lay-open talk  If that is not enough, then  it is  tradition, emotions, misunderstanding, conspiracy theories and delusions  that is guiding critical judgment of what was said. thepresidiumzupa@yahoo.co.uk
