The Zimbabwe Unemployed People's Association represents the interests of the millions of Zimbabweans who need jobs and a better livelihood wish to congratulate the people of Tsholotsho North on their by- election. The high turnout is a sign of a vibrant support base for Jonathan Moyo. We also congratulate Mr. Moyo on his victory. As one of unemployed and hardworking people of Tsholotsho's firmest friends, we look forward to good relations with the new MP and to working closely together to further a range of common interests including our strong partnerships in fighting unemployment, and science as well as the vitally important task of building peace and stability between communities and the wider country.
Making progress towards development, poverty eradication, water remains a priority for this region. ZUPA calls on the new MP to demonstrate leadership and courage in working with all communities to secure the peace which is so strongly in the interests of both the constituency and the country. As representatives of the majority of Zimbabweans that have suffered for a long time, we have learnt that the best way to achieve social or economic justice for poor members, is to find ways of achieving the best out of what we are given. We accept the Indigenisation and Empowerment Act is law in Zimbabwe.
We therefore ask the new MP to find show how it can fairly benefit the people we represent in his constituency. ZUPA sees the scheme as a viable one if dependency on aid will be stopped. We see this being a way of resourcing services such as education and healthcare for local communities. Above all, we see this as a way through which the ordinary citizens can have access to economic means. Members of the community must be enabled to participate in local businesses such as Safaris, Hunting concession, and other related projects.
