MDC-T's economic sabotage exposed

The negative move that the MDC-T is planning to take as a campaigning measure against ZANU-PF is hardly surprising as it has holds no water but just a form of economic sabotage by that opposition party.
Economic Sabotage can best be defined as the practice of undermining the economy of a nation. This can be done through a number of illegal activities among them vandalizing public property which is meant to benefit the general public. Also, boycotting business which is meant to resuscitate the economy through employment creation is another form of economic sabotage.
It is indeed worrisome how MDC-T secretary-general Douglas Mwonzora bragged about his party's silly decision of boycotting government business. It was reported that Mwonzora told attendees at a party meeting in Mutare recently. Mwonzora noted that his party was embarking on a massive consumer boycott, boycotting products, shops and businesses of government officials who are aligned to the ruling party, ZANU-PF.
Honestly, if products at these shops are cheap, why should one be forced to go and buy elsewhere leaving the inexpensive ones. Zimbabweans are neither fools nor zombies that they can be forced to do what is against their will. Every Zimbabwean has a right to choose, thus right to choose a product or any shop that he or she wishes to purchase goods from.
Mwonzora should be advised that not all Zimbabwean are MDC-T. MDC-T only constitutes a smaller faction of Zimbabwean citizens. Hence, their decision of not buying from shops owned by government officials is a waste of time by this opposition party.
It is known that the MDC-T has an agenda of weakening the country's economy. Last year, during May Day celebrations at Gwanzura stadium, MDC-T leader, Morgan Tsvangirai was quoted saying he wanted to escalate the economy crisis by making it scream. The move by MDC-T is evidence enough to support what their leader once said.
Government is trying its best to create employment for the masses, but MDC-T seems to be ignorant of all that. The threats that were called by the West a decade ago, to make Zimbabwe economy scream are a true reflection of what the MDC-T is planning to do.
Also, the illegal economic sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe that Tsvangirai called for, is a clear-cut indication of Tsvangirai's agenda of destabilizing the state of the economy.
To add on, Tsvangirai was once again captured on television imprudently calling for South Africa to cut its supply of electricity to Zimbabwe. All these activities were done with only one intention of crippling the economy of Zimbabwe.
However, what Tsvangirai fails to realize is that people are fed up with his useless strategies. People do not need all this. What the generality needs is issues that bring bread and butter on their tables. As an opposition leader, Tsvangirai should have been proffering alternate policies that support government activities in efforts to revive the nation.
Will these boycotts bring food to the people of Zimbabwe? Obviously, No! One will then wonder why this opposition party is involving itself in such an unconstructive move.
History is awash with records of MDC-T boycotts. That opposition party has even boycotted previous by-elections. Unfortunately, these boycotts have proved that there do not work at all in Zimbabwe.
In that regard, MDC-T should go back to the drawing board and find other meaningful campaigning strategies, if ever they wish to regain the lost support from the electorate.
