CASTLE Lager Premier Soccer League pacesetters Highlanders and Hwange Football club Hwange face off in a top-of-the-table clash at Barbourfields (BF) this Sunday.
Chipangano who started the 2014 soccer season on a high note will be hoping to register their first win against Highlanders since Zambian mentor Kelvin Kaindu took charge of the Bulawayo giants in 2012.
Kaindu, who took over from Mkhuphali Masuku at the end of 2011 season is yet to lose to the coal miners. In his first season with the Bulawayo giants, Kaindu outclassed his Zambian counterpart Tennant Chilumba recording a 1-0 victory at BF before winning with the same scoreline at the Colliery in the reverse fixture.
Bosso went on to beat Hwange home and away with the same scorelines last season, but this time the coal miners were under the guidance of Nation Dube.
The match is expected to live to its billing, apart from the two team's common interest of collecting maximum points. Bosso will be hoping to maintain their dominance over the coal miners under the Zambian gaffer while Hwange will be eyeing their first victory over Highlanders since 2012.
Hwange head coach Nation Dube refused to read much into history saying it is just a short record that does not scare them, instead they will come to BF to enjoy their usual game and pick maximum points.
He said although they did not perform as expected in the 1-1 draw against Triangle on Sunday, the team has been doing well in training.
Highlanders and Hwange matches at BF have always been exciting and Bulawayo fans are in for a treat come Sunday.
"We are preparing for the game. I cannot say we are now prepared because we are going to be preparing for this match until Saturday. About them having not lost a game to us since 2012, I think it is a very short record we are not even worried about. Our aim is to go there and play our normal game and collect maximum points. In fact, they are the ones under pressure because they definitely want to maintain their record against us. It is going to be a tough match," Dube said.
Last season Hwange had one of their worst performances as they survived the PSL chop in the last round of matches, but they started the 2014 campaign on a high note winning two and drawing one of their first three matches.
They mauled Buffaloes 5-1, came from behind to beat FC Platinum 3-2 away in Zvishavane before settling for a 1-1 draw against Triangle at the Colliery Stadium on Sunday.
