PALACE Gardens will be a hive of activity this morning when Bulawayo Pool Association (BPA) players compete in the Bob@92 Tournament.
The event is hosted by BPA's Exchange Academy in conjunction with the Zanu PF Bulawayo Provincial Youth League to mark President Robert Mugabe's birthday.
Osborne Dziko, the tournament coordinator, said the competition is meant to market and improve the standard of sport.
"As Bulawayo Pool Association we want to celebrate the President's birthday as well and in turn improve the quality of the game in our region. This platform will allow us as an association to catch the attention of potential sponsors. Showcasing the best talent, attracting bigger numbers is what sponsors want and this's what we're giving them," said Dziko.
"As Bulawayo, we've had interesting preparations for the tournament and players have built up quite an interesting competitive spirit.
We hope to have an entertaining and thrilling weekend."
Players wishing to participate in the tournament will pay a registration fee of $3 to battle it out for top prize.
Dziko said the first 92 players to register will get t-shirts and caps.
The winner in the men's category will walk away with $100 with the losing finalist getting $75.
In the women's category, prizes are $50 for the winner, $30 for the losing finalist while the third placed player will get $20.
