Rwanda's Amavubi Stars are through to the quarterfinals of this year's Cecafa Tusker Challenge Cup after outclassing Zimbabwe 2-0 in their second Group A match here yesterday.

Meddie Kagere scored a goal in each half as the Amavubi Stars cemented top place in the pool with a clinical performance at the National Stadium. Rwanda have six points from two matches and are yet to concede a goal in the tournament.

The Warriors started the game well dominating possession in the first few minutes but the victors slowly grew into the game.

The bees went ahead with their first attack of note when Kagere controlled a long ball before finding the bottom corner from 25 yards out with a left footed shot for a 1-0 halftime lead.

Donald Ngoma created Zimbabwe's best chance on 26 minutes ghosting past his marker down the right wing but he was unable to find a teammate with the resultant cross.

Rwanda sealed their victory with a breakaway goal eight minutes from time.

Olivier Karekezei started the move on the edge of his own area with Jerome Sina squaring the ball for Kagere to tap in from eight yards.
The victors face Djibouti in their final match tomorrow while Zimbabwe face Tanzania in a winner take all on December 3. - SuperSport.
