After blazing as a "gospel comedian," a rarity in Zimbabwe, Thubelihle "Nceku" Sibanda is now ready to take on the world with a gig in Birmingham, England set to herald his arrival on stages beyond Zimbabwe's borders.
Nceku, who recently toured South Africa performing successful comedy shows in the Western Cape and Johannesburg, is billed to feature in another historic show hosted by Litania Gospel promotions on 23 September in Birmingham, where he will share the stage with Minister Ellard from Zim Praise and South Africa's multi award winner Dr Tumi from Spirit of Praise.
The comedian, who is set to leave Zimbabwe today, said he was delighted that his solo career was now on the correct path. He also expressed enthusiasm at the prospect of giving his fans his best, as he had now polished a stage act that is bound to leave the audience in stitches.
"I consider myself blessed because it's rare to make a successful career as a Gospel comedian. I recently toured South Africa and Botswana and the shows were a success, thanks to my fans who attended. As I am heading to Birmingham, I have a polished set of performance that will leave the audience in stiches," said Nceku.
The Gospel comedian, who has so far released a single live DVD recording titled "I am Nceku", which critiques Christian issues and values from a comic perspective, will do another live recording in December which his communications manager Wisdom Nyathi said it will be a special dedication to Nceku's fans.
"Nceku has recorded one live DVD performance which gave him stardom as a Gospel comedian and it has opened so many doors for him to perform in different places including Birmingham. As a way of showing his appreciation, Nceku will shoot another live DVD in December in honour of his loyal fans," said Nyathi.
