Goat thief jailed

A 29‑year‑old Figtree man has been jailed for stealing nine goats from a neighbour in his village.


Thumbule Mugande was sentenced to 12 months in prison by magistrate Joshua Nembaware, who conditionally suspended six months of the sentence.

Prosecutor Sheila Nyathi told the court that between April last year and 26 January at Bullton Farm in Figtree, Mugande stole nine goats from Ishmael Nkomazana's pen.

Nkomazana discovered the theft and reported the matter to the police, leading to Mugande’s swift arrest.
