SOUTH AFRICA-BASED artiste, Zenzo "Mr Breeze" Siziba, has bounced back with an eight track album titled Dollar Dollar, two decades after he released his last album.
Siziba, whose music is a mixture of reggae, sungura and pantsula, last released an album in 1993, titled Ntombana which followed his 1992 release Show Them.
In an interview, Siziba said he had quit the music scene in 1993 as he felt that he did not have the necessary tools to carve out a successful career for himself, but was confident that his return would be successful as he had solved most of the problems that had bedevilled him in the past.
"I had to quit the music industry in 1993 because I could not sustain myself on my career back then as I felt that I did not have everything in order, but now I do. I have acquired top class equipment that enables me and my band to give audiences quality performances and also help me grow as an artiste," he said.
Siziba said although his new album could be defined as sungura as most of the songs fell under the genre, he still was focused on giving fans their money's worth by performing his songs from different genres at his live shows. Siziba is set to perform in Victoria Falls today, Nyamandlovu tomorrow, Bulawayo on Saturday and Plumtree on 13 March.
"This is a sungura album but that does not mean that I will stop mixing genres for my fans. I believe in giving the people what they want so I will always play what they want me to play," he said.
Siziba said over the album's eight tracks he sang in various languages in order to please fans by giving everyone music that catered to their tastes.
"I sing in Shona, Ndebele and Sotho on the new album because above everything else I am an entertainer and I want everyone to appreciate my music in the language of their liking," he said.
Siziba's manager, the pint-sized former member of the Sungura Masters, Masotha Nzou, said the artiste would over the remaining months of the year alternate between South Africa and Zimbabwe so he could attend shows in the country.
"Mr Breeze will be coming back to Zimbabwe more often because we have a number of shows lined up for him over the rest of the year," he said.
