Woes are mounting for South African former President Jacob Zuma after the Helen Suzman Foundation filed an urgent application for a review of the Jacob Zuma medical parole decision on Tuesday.
According to South African media, the application in the High Court in Pretoria is seeking a record of and reasons for granting Zuma's medical parole.
The Foundation is said to have given Correctional Services Commissioner Arthur Fraser until Monday to explain his reasons for granting medical parole to the former president.
The commissioner missed his chance to explain, which has resulted in legal action.
The foundation believes the decision to release Zuma on parole is not a legal one.
It wants the court to compel the commissioner to answer. It also wants the court to review and set aside Fraser's decision, as well as an order to substitute the decision refusing Zuma's application for medical parole.
President was recently given medical parole when he was serving a 15-month jail sentence for disobeying a constitutional order.
